We have a short week.
In math students will study area, perimeter and volume. Here's a video to help review area:
In reading we will continue to focus on nonfiction reading. Students are learning about the ocean. Students will be reading a variety of books about the ocean and coming up with questions and looking for answers.
Students will also be writing short rap songs as a final project in the rhyme and poetry study we've been working on for the past few weeks. Here's someone using rap to teach:
My daughter worked at a shark research station at Bimini Island (one of the Bermuda islands). Before that she interned at MN Zoo's Aquatics department (and yes, she was in the tank with the sharks!). She is a Bio/Chem~Chemistry double-major at the University of Minnesota. Her primary interest is hydrothermal vents, but her close secondary interest is sharks-- so she knows a lot about both.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if her schedule is open enough to come and talk to the kids. She has tons of pictures of her with various sharks that she could share along with first-hand stories & information.
Should I ask her?
