September 12 - September 16
This week we will be reviewing addition to make sure everyone is proficient before we move on to multiplication and division. Students will practice basic addition facts, adding 2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit, and 5-digit numbers with and without regrouping. We will also practice adding money.
Students who demonstrate proficiency all of the skills will complete a project that utilizes those skills as well as research, persuasive writing, and critical thinking.
In reading class we will be reading "My Diary From Here to There" about a girl who moves with her family to the United States. Students will practice new vocabulary words, making inferences, reading comprehension skills and story structure.
Writing this week will focus on writing narratives about a specific moment. We will draw inspiration from "My Diary From Here to There" and do several writing exercises in class.
Schools pictures will be taken on Tuesday.
Remember, Thursday is a teacher workshop day so there is no school.

Welcome Back!
I hope you're excited to be starting another school year, I know I am. This first week we will concentrate on getting to know one another and establishing some class routines and rules. My hope is that we can build a classroom community where all students will feel welcome and comfortable.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions or if there's anything I can do to make the start of the school year go more smoothly for you.
Mr. Scott
