January 24-28

Math: This week we are practicing multiplying 2-digit and 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. In order to be successful at this, students need to be comfortable with their basic facts. Flashcards are available, if you'd like some please let me know.

Reading and Language Arts: This week our readings are about friendship and working together. We are reading Country Mouse and City Mouse, The Cricket in Times Square, and The Chance of a Lifetime.

The skills we will be working on are visualizing to improve comprehension, understanding theme, and using context clues to decipher words.

We will also be writing and working on grammar, with an emphasis on plural nouns.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back! I hope you are well rested after that long winter break. We'll be jumping right back into our studies this week.

Math: We will continue to practice division this week. If students are having difficultly learning multiplication and division facts, they should practice at home. There are several card games we've played at school that reinforce the facts.

Language and Reading: We are reading a story called "Dear Mrs. LaRue" this week. Students will be learning how to write letters and they will continue to practice comprehension skills.

Study Island is now available for anyone who would like to play some computer games at home. If you do not have a login and password, contact me so I can give you one.
